There will be a full-day conference organised by the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board and supported by the Securities Commission Malaysia on 29 April 2009.
This conference provides a good opportunity for delegates to hear directly from representatives from International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) on issues and developments of accounting standards and its challenges in the current economic environment. Delegates would also have the opportunity to hear views on Financial reporting for Islamic-based transactions and 'How fair is fair value?' in two separate panel discussions. In addition, there will be a panel discussion and Q&A session to bring up issues on convergence with International Financial Reporting Standards by 2012.
This conference is held in conjuction with the 2009 IASB Regional Standard-Setters Meeting in Kuala Lumpur. This regional event will bring together key personnel of standard-setters and professional bodies in ASEAN for a meeting cum dialogue with Sir David Tweedie, Chairman of the IASB, Mr Warren McGregor, a liaison member of the IASB and Mr Wayne Upton, director of international activities of the IASB.
About 200 key representatives from public listed companies, regulators, practitioners and professional bodies are expected to attend.
