Encik Mohammad Faiz Azmi

Encik Faiz has over 27 years of extensive experience in the audit and business advisory services of financial institutions both in the UK and Malaysia.  He is the Executive Chairman at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Malaysia and was the Global leader of PwC’s Global Islamic Finance Team practice from 2007 to September 2012. 

 

He is the current Chairman of the MASB, First Chairman of the Asian Oceanian Standards Setters Group (AOSSG) 2009/2010, Chairman of AOSSG Working Group on Islamic Finance, member of the AOSSG Steering Committee, member of the AAOIFI Accounting and Auditing Standards Board based in Bahrain, and a member of the Advisory Board to the Faculty of Business & Accountancy, University Malaya. Encik Faiz is a Fellow of the ICAEW, a MICPA Council Member and a member of the ACIFP Malaysia.

 

Encik Faiz is a subject matter expert on several strategy related assignments for Islamic banks both in Malaysia and globally.  He is also a regular speaker at banking and Islamic Finance seminars and forums, both locally and global.

 
Datuk Wan Selamah binti Wan Sulaiman

Datuk Wan Selamah binti Wan Sulaiman was appointed as the Accountant General of Malaysia on 29th November 2010.  She graduated from Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), United Kingdom in 1978 and obtained Fellow of Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) United Kingdom in 1984. Datuk Wan Selamah started her career in 1978 as an Accountant at the Examination Syndicate before being transferred to Ministry of Defence in 1983. After serving several divisions in the Accountant Generals’ Department, Datuk Wan Selamah was promoted as the Deputy Accountant General (Corporate) on 15 December 2009.  

Datuk Wan Selamah currently sits on the boards of the Inland Revenue and JKP Sdn. Bhd. She was conferred Kesatria Mangku Negara in 2006, Johan Mahkota Wilayah and Darjah Kebesaran Setia Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Berbilang (BSK) in 2010.


Dato' Yeo How

Dato’ Yeo How is President of Apical Group, a leading global palm oil player and a founding member of the Business Council for Sustainable Development, Singapore. A veteran of more than 30 years in the palm oil industry, he was previously Executive Director/ CFO of IOI Corporation Berhad where, apart from his principal responsibilities as CFO, he also oversaw the IOI Group’s commodity marketing and downstream manufacturing operations.

Prior to joining IOI Group in 1983, he was with Deloitte Kassim Chan where he did his articleship.

Dato’ Yeo is a Council Member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Chairman of its Commerce and Industry Committee. He is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK.



Mr Sukanta Dutt

Mr Sukanta is Asia-Pacific Area Managing Partner for Quality and Risk Management at Ernst & Young. A Certified Public Accountant, he is currently a Board member of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board and a Board member of the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
 
Mr Sukanta is also a Council member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and previously served two terms on the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board of the International Federation of Accountants.


Mr Chan Kam Chiew

Mr Chan Kam Chiew is a Partner and Head of Audit and Accounting Committee at KPMG Malaysia, a member of the MIA, the MICPA and the CPA Australia.

He joined KPMG in 1984 and was on secondment to KPMG San Francisco from 1991 to 1993. He is the audit engagement partner for a wide range of public listed companies and multinationals in various industries including chemical, electronics, retail, industrial products, consumer products and automotive products. He is well-versed with multinational audits including those whose parent entities are based in Europe and the United States of America. He has managed special assignments including IFRS and US GAAP reviews, flotation exercises, financial due diligence reviews, provision of financial advisory services and reviews of policies and procedures.


Mr Thaya Sangara Pillai

Mr Thaya is a Partner in the Assurance practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers Malaysia, a Fellow of the ICAEW, a member of the MIA and the MICPA.

He has over 30 years of experience in providing audit and business advisory services to clients in a wide range of industries. His portfolio of clients includes major public listed companies involved in power, telecommunications, automotive, property development and manufacturing sectors.  Thaya has also led cross border assignments. Other than statutory audits, he has led numerous assignments on financial due diligences, mergers & acquisitions, initial public offerings, finance function effectiveness and other advisory work.


Dr Nurmazilah Dato' Mahzan

Dr Nurmazilah Mahzan commenced her career with Arthur Andersen in 1993. She later joined KUB Malaysia Berhad as Group Accounts Manager. Her corporate experience covers various industries including property development and construction, banking, unit trusts, trading and manufacturing.

In 1999, she left the corporate world for the academia where she embarked on research projects in the areas of auditing, financial reporting and corporate governance. She obtained her PhD from University of Birmingham United Kingdom.

She is currently the Deputy Dean (Undergraduate) at Faculty of Business and Accountancy, University Malaya. She is also the coordinator of International Audit Education Partnership (IAEP) for University Malaya as well as an Academic Advocate of Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).

In addition to serving as a Member of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB), she is the Assistant Treasurer with Persatuan Ekonomi Malaysia and Advisor to KHR Chartered Accountants.She also serves in the Accounting and Auditing technical committee of Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountant (MICPA).


Mr Pushpanathan Kanagarayar


Mr Ken Pushpanathan retired as a Partner of Ernst & Young, Malaysia on December 31, 2009.  He is currently an independent non-executive director and Chairman of the audit and risk management committees of CIMB AVIVA Assurance Berhad and CIMB AVIVA Takaful Berhad as well as an independent non-executive director and Chairman of the audit committees of IJM Corporation Berhad and IJM Plantations Berhad.

He is currently the President of MICPA, a Council Member of MIA and a Board Member of MASB as well as the Honorary Secretary of the Financial Reporting Foundation. He also serves as a member of the Listing Committee of Bursa Malaysia.

He serves on various committees of MASB, MICPA and MIA. He was the Chairman of MICPA’s Financial Statements Review Committee and Project Chairman of the Insurance Standards Working Group of MASB on FRS 4. He also headed the MICPA Working Group, which undertook a revision of the specimen financial statements of Model Insurance Berhad.

He has served as an inaugural member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC’s) Developing Nations Permanent Taskforce for 2004/2005. He has been actively involved in the National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA), which is jointly organised by MICPA, MIA and Bursa Malaysia, as Chairman of the Adjudication and/or Organising Committees from 2003 to 2009.

 

Mr Liew Kim Yuen

Mr Liew Kim Yuen heads the Financial and Corporate Surveillance Department in the Securities Commission (SC). He joined the SC in 2001 with extensive experience in the audit, merchant banking and commercial sectors. He qualified with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1986 and is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

Representing the SC, he is an advisor on the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB) and an observer on the MASB Issues Committee. He is also an observer on MIA's Financial Reporting Standards Implementation Committee and had served as a Council Member of MIA.

Mr Liew is a regular speaker for Bursa Malaysia’s Mandatory Accreditation Programme for PLCs Directors and Malaysian Alliance of Corporate Directors’ Professionalism in Directorship Programme, speaking on issues relating to the key roles, responsibilities and expectations of directors of public listed companies.

He had also been invited to participate and impart his knowledge and experience in financial reporting and corporate surveillance with his fellow regulators in other jurisdictions, as well as in several international and local conferences, including the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Financial Regulators Training Initiative, ASEAN Federation of Accountants Conference, MARA University of Technology’s Seminar on Forensic Accounting and Financial Criminology and the Securities Industry Development Corporation’s Emerging Markets Programme.

 

Ms Jessica Chew Cheng Lian

Ms Jessica Chew is currently an Assistant Governor at Bank Negara Malaysia. Ms Jessica has over 20 years of experience in financial sector supervision and regulation with the Bank. She is currently responsible for financial regulation covering the banking and insurance sectors, and money services business. Her responsibilities include the development of prudential financial policies for the financial sector, financial surveillance, consumer and market conduct regulation and oversight over the regulation and supervision of money services business activities. 

Ms Jessica holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with a major in accounting and finance from the University of Melbourne, Australia. She also currently serves as an adviser member of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB) and a board member of Agensi Kaunseling dan Pengurusan Kredit (AKPK)/Credit Counselling And Debt Management Agency (CCDMA).

 

Mr Lai Kor Foong

Mr Lai Kor Foong is a Senior Manager with Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM).

He started his career in public service in the Registrar of Companies Malaysia (now known as SSM) in 1977 as an Assistant Registrar of Companies Malaysia. He was later appointed Head of the investigation unit where he stayed for more than 25 years.

Currently, he is a Senior Manager in the Corporate Policy and Development Division of the SSM. Here, he is actively involved in the development and amendment of the Malaysian Companies Act 1965 given his in-depth knowledge of and hands-on experience in the subject, including the latest amendment to the Companies Act 1965.

He is also a Senior Lecturer with SSM’s Training Academy where he conducts training for company directors and secretaries as well as officers of government departments and agencies on company law, law of meeting, company secretarial practices and corporate governance.
